(3/1/14: Looking for Smileys for a Ning 3.0 network? Go here: http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/forum/topics/smileys-for-ning-3-0-beta-f... )

(7/25/11: There is a Unbranded Version that does not mention jQueryHelp.ning.com available for a Donation of $15 or more.  If you want it, message me!)

-------------------------------------------

NOTE - This code is for Ning 2.0 sites!  The code for Ning 3.0 sites is here:

http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/forum/topics/smileys-for-ning-3-0-beta-f...

-------------------------------------------

Ning has changed the Text Editor that they provide for all of our Ning Networks.  My Smileys version 4 and 5 do not work correctly with the new Text Editor.  With versions 4 and 5, you can no longer click the Smileys to get them to appear in the textbox. So I have written Version 6A which is meant to work with the new Text Editor.  in 6A you CAN click the Smileys and they will go into the textbox when the text editor is in Visual Mode but NOT in HTML mode.

This version does NOT convert Smiley codes entered in the textbox into Smiley images and does NOT convert Smiley codes in older comments and replies into Smiley images.  Versions 4 and 5 did that, but they could CAUSE PROBLEMS with the editor so I suggest you upgrade to 6.

I may try to add the ability to convert codes to images in future upgrades to version 6.

We are using Smileys 6A here now.  Try it out!

Here is the code for Smileys 6A, use it on your site if you want, and AT YOUR OWN RISK!  If you ever notice any problems on your site, REMOVE THIS AND OTHER JS from your Custom Code / Analytics textbox to see if the code is causing your problems.

NOTE:  This code goes in your Custom Code (also know as Analytics) textbox.

Make sure you DO NOT put it inside any other script tags.  If you do, then the "more" button will not work and it may affect other code as well.  It is also a good idea to make a copy of your custom code before editing it.  Copy it to a text file in Notepad if you're on Windows.

Here is the code!

<!-- Setup file for More Smileys - Add your own custom Smileys -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/dA0WF0z08cJc9DYUxlB0ieJWKmRGequtxn3-nUAaAVkul9r0yZetwHPAzKERw*GV5j77mp9WIh41TM2m80AQDSjNVfm0SeU4/ZMoreSmileyData.js"></script>
<!-- Smileys 6A - from jQueryHelp.ning.com - DO NOT DELETE THIS! -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/dA0WF0z08cKNJHzaNpjPqYkXzSFQYvg2MpX8yXkYzC1CfPmAteWsm1s8gJVQA3TfBqpihLxzro1t6T*BnAjBnKCURmbSChcj/SmileyTest6A.js"></script>

Make sure there are no spaces in those long file names starting with api.ning.com:80/files... Try this older version if the above does not work for you.

<!-- Setup file for More Smileys - Add your own custom Smileys -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bkserv3.net/jQueryHelp/js/ZMoreSmileyData.js"></script>
<!-- Smileys 6A - from jQueryHelp.ning.com - DO NOT DELETE THIS! -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bkserv3.net/jQueryHelp/js/SmileyTest6A.js"></script>

Want to use your own Smileys?  Read this:

4 built in Smiles work but "more" button doesn't work?  The code is probably inside another script tag.  Check your code.  This has been reported a few times, see here for one example:

http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/forum/topics/try-smileys-version-6-for-t...

Smiley test!

put smiley here:

switch to HTML mode.

put smiley here:

In HTML mode, you can type in <img src="" /> and then drag the smiley you want to right between the 2 quotes and when you switch back to Visual Mode, the Smiley will appear.  Interesting!

Hi Eva,

I wrote a little tutorial on adding your own Smileys a while ago, its not all that clear but you can look at it, link is in the Original Post, above.  Unbranded version of Smileys is available, but donation required, see above about that too!

I would change your code for put them on my own server, but how does it work ?

I'm a little inexperienced ...;

How the code must be changed and how do I add that in my own server ?

And please, no branding.

Hi Solael!

I am happy to know that my Smilies made You happy!    There may be a version someday where you can easily add your own smilies to the set that it comes with.   There is already a way to add your own smilies but the instructions aren't all that easy.  You can find them here: http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/forum/topics/try-smileys-20?id=2818000%3...

And I may look into adding Smilies to the Broadcast Messages; good idea!

Thanks for joining us here at jQueryHelp!  I'll see you in the forum and visit in the Chat room when you have time!

Hugs, love, blessings and best wishes to you!

Hello everyone!  I have seen this message also, about "This image is down." from photobucket.  Here is the explanation and solution.

JULY 2013 - This also applies to the PhotoBucket "Look Who's Popular" Image problem!

When the first version of my Smiley app was released years ago, it just had the 4 built in Smileys.  People asked for a way to add "more" smileys and I put that into the next version.  A member here had a bunch of Smileys on photobucket and suggested I could use them as the "more" smileys, and I did.  So those "more" smileys are on HIS photobucket account, over which I have no control.  I have no idea why a few of the smileys are "down" sometimes.

The solution is to host your own "more" smileys on your own server.  And then you will have to modify some of the code for this app.  There is a link to the instructions in the original post above, or just go here:

http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/forum/topics/try-smileys-20?id=2818000%3...

I have hosted the "more" smileys on one of my servers.  If you don't want to go through the trouble of making your own "more" smileys, you can use the ones on my server, BUT THEN PLEASE CONSIDER A SMALL DONATION!  $10 would be cool, or whatever you can afford.  Donate button is on the Main page here.  Or Send Money to pay@bkserv.com  THANKS!

Just change this line:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bkserv3.net/jQueryHelp/js/ZMoreSmileyData.js"></script>

to this:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bkserv3.net/jQueryHelp/js/BKMoreSmileyData2.js"></script>

Best Wishes!

 NEW for JULY 2017 - Photobucket is blocking our emoji files.  You can use the fix above, or if you see this in your Custom Code

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/dA0WF0z08cJc9DYUxlB0ieJWKmRGequtxn3-nUAaAVkul9r0yZetwHPAzKERw*GV5j77mp9WIh41TM2m80AQDSjNVfm0SeU4/ZMoreSmileyData.js"></script>

you can replace it with

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/2vCzKZbk2EJKRwTWOQ3CmQNuNkQOxGxkcuBws-scH2jW3oRdL0xf1W2tIzFPqf2RfJxkd7AJoHF8djx8LvqvPdHmB6IixKHt/BKMoreSmileyData2.js"></script>

Hi Debbie!

I'm not artistic. I am jealous of those of you who can make nice banners and graphics.   Dave made the great graphic that I use in my sig for me.  I think it would make a very nice banner!   So sure, use that one!

Best wishes and Thank You!
